Heart Breaking: Twitter user whose sister died in the Sosoliso crash gives account of the Moment him and his family learnt about the plane crash at the airport

Yesterday, December 10, 2019, marked the 14th anniversary of the sosoliso plane crash that killed 108 people,
only two people survived the crash. One of them is America's Got Talent alumna Kechi Okwuchi and the other is Bunmi Amusan (now Bunmi Adams).


A twitter user, Damiete who lost his sister in the Sosoliso plane crash that took place on December 10 2005, has given a heartbreaking and shocking account of the moment him and his family learnt about his sister's plane crash as they waited for the arrival of the plane at the airport.


Damiete narrated that his sister just celebrated her 13th birthday the day before the crash. He and his sister had just closed from school for the Christmas holiday. They were to travel from Abuja to Port Harcourt. He further narrated that his flight landed an hour before hers.


While waiting for his sister's flight at Port Harcourt airport, his Parents together with some other parents whose children attended Loyola Jesuit College soon joined him to wait for the flight.

Before anyone knew what was happening they heard a very Loud noise.....Boom....there after the cloud was darkened and immediately it started raining heavily. They all hoped that the loud noise was a thunder bolt but unfortunately it wasn't. They started perceiving something burning which made them realize that something was wrong.
They hurriedly asked the airport staff who were gathered around mumbling to themselves, the staff replied saying it was just a helicopter crash. Next, they heard an ambulance pass. More ambulances passed but this time with a pickup truck. This made them worried at how many people were on the helicopter to require that many ambulances. It was then that they realized the Sosoliso flight they were expecting had crashed.
They tried to make it to the tarmac but airport security blocked their way. His distraught mother crawled through the baggage carousel behind the check-in counter to get to the tarmac.
 Damiete and his dad got to the car and drove round to the tarmac. There, they found his mother on her knees. When they looked up, they saw the plane his sister was supposed to be in. It was split into two and was burning. At this point, he said his father picked up a phone, called someone, and said, "Francis, we just lost Nana."
