Snipper, insecticide, woman kills granddaughter using snipper

Temitope Akinola was arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for poisoning and killing her two-day-old granddaughter with a sniper insecticide.


Akinola arrest was followed by the complaint the baby's mother filed with the police. The baby's mother claimed that she went to bath and returned to behola a lifeless body of her baby which she left with her mother.

“Upon the information, the DPO Shagamu division, SP Okiki Agunbiade, detailed his detectives to the scene where the killer grandmother was promptly arrested,” Ogun policer spokesperson, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi said.

She admitted to the killing of her grandchild saying that she did it because she never liked the baby's father. She also confessed that she tried to terminate her daughter's pregnancy but she was warned against attempting such act by her pastor, so she decided to wait till the baby was born before carrying out her deadly plan. The corpse of the baby was deposited at Onabanjo teaching hospital mortuary for autopsy.

She was carried to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and prosecution.
